Audio-Only Recording
print icon

Overview

This feature allows for capturing an audio recording without video.

This is useful for the following:

  • Interviews.
  • If the operator is in an area, e.g. a hospital, that has specific restrictions for privacy.
  • When responding to an incident involving minors or domestic issues.
Caution:
This feature is typically disabled to avoid accidental activation of an audio recording. Getac recommends enabling only on specific user's BWCs and providing sufficient training to avoid any issues.

Start Audio-Only Recording

To start recording, press and hold the center button for approximately 5 seconds.

The following occurs once a recording has started:

  • The camera will say, "audio only."
  • The recording status LED will begin to blink, alternating between red and orange. See here for an example.
  • If enabled, any Pre-recorded event will be added to the recording automatically.
Note:
  • The LED lights and audible cues will not function while the BWC is in Covert Mode.
  • The BWC can be configured to beep at a specified interval while recording. See here for more information.
  • If used in conjunction with Pre-record, there will be video for a brief period of time prior to the audio recording. This is visible during playback.
  • The camera will not say, "Categorize" if the wheel is disabled.

Stop Recording

To stop recordingpress and hold the center button for approximately 3 seconds or until the camera says, "audio stop."

The following occurs once a recording has stopped:

  • The recording status LED will turn off. See here for an example.
  • If enabled, Pre-record will begin automatically at the specified interval.
Note:
If enabled, the BWC will say, "audio stop, categorize" instead and the User will be prompted to select a position on the category wheel to apply a Category for retention. See Categorizing for how to use this feature.
