This article answers common questions from Getac video customers and provides quick information on our in-car and body-worn camera products and software. Each answer includes links to detailed Knowledge Base articles. For further inquiries, contact us at [email protected].

 

Mobile Video Solutions

Q: What is a Mobile Video Solution or MVS?

A: This is a term used to describe an In-Car Video system.

 

Q: How do I operate this thing?

A: Check out the MVS Table of Contents here and expand the Operation section, then choose an article in the list to learn more about that specific feature.

 

Q: How do I log in to the MVS?

A: Check out Login/Logout.

 

Q: How many users can be logged in at one time?

A: As many as are needed; however, most agencies only have two logged in at the same time.

 

Q: How do I watch my videos in the car?

A1: Check out Playback for how to watch from the DVR directly.

A2: If you want to watch them after they upload, first watch the training video on Accessing the Assets Page​​​​​​, then watch the training video in View Tab.

 

Q: How many cameras can the DVR support?

A1: For the VR-X20: Up to 4 IP cameras or eight analog cameras (depending on which model was purchased).

A2: For the VR-X10 and VR-X20 F1: 2 IP cameras.

 

Q: What resolutions can you record in?

A: All Getac cameras can record Standard Definition to Full High-Definition quality video.

 

Q: How does it upload?

A1: Wi-Fi.

A2: 4G LTE (on supported models).

A3: And/or Ethernet.

 

Q: Can I Livestream it?

A: Yes! All you need is an active Internet connection. See the Live Video Page to see how this process works.

 

Q: Does your system work with FirstNet?

A: Yes!

 

Q: How many people can live stream a vehicle at one time?

A: As many as your Internet connection can support. This feature can be bandwidth-heavy.

A: As many as your Internet connection can support. This feature can be bandwidth-heavy.

 

Q: Where can I get a wiring diagram of the system that I bought?

A1: For the VR-X20G1, here.

Note:

  • There are many different configurations of MVS, so be sure to look in the correct section for the DVR that you purchased.
  • These diagrams only cover the component connections and DO NOT provide instructions on how to wire power or triggers. Each customer deployment is unique in which triggers are used or how power is connected. Contact [email protected] for assistance.

 

Q: What are the recommended settings for my front-facing camera?

Q: I just powered up my DVR for the first time, why do I only see a black screen?

A: All DVRs ship from the factory without InCar software installed. Contact [email protected] to get the latest InCar software and for instructions on how to install it.

 

 

Body Worn Cameras

Q: How do I operate this thing?

  1. Open the Body-Worn Camera Table of Contents here.
  2. Expand the section for your specific model of BWC, e.g. BC-02, BC-03, BC-04/4K.
  3. Expand the Operation section.
  4. Click on the article for the desired feature/functionality (see image below).

 

 

Q: How do I mount this to my uniform?

A1: For Gen 1 Mounts, check out Gen 1 Mounts.

Q: How do I install this quick twist adapter thing?

A: Check out the Quick Twist Adapter Installation video.

 

Q: How does it upload?

A: All Getac BWCs have single and multi-docking stations that facilitate offload to the server.

 

Q: What resolutions can it record in?

A: This varies between models. Consult a Regional Sales Manager or Solutions Architect for more details and to discuss your agency's specific needs.

 

Q: Is it waterproof?

A: Yes! Each Getac BWC model has an IPX Rating of at least IP67 (30 min in up to 1 m of water).

 

Q: How long does the battery last?

A: This is dependent on the desired settings. If you want the highest quality video, you sacrifice battery life. To help offset this, Getac has multiple mobile charging solutions to keep your BWCs running as long as possible, as well as suggestions on how they're set up. Consult with a Solutions Architect or [email protected] for help.

 

Q: How do I assign a User to the body camera?

A: This is done in Getac Enterprise. Check out Assignments for more details.

 

Q: How do I sync my body camera with my in-car video system?

Getac Enterprise

Q: What is Getac Enterprise?

A: Getac Enterprise is a Digital Evidence Management (DEM) system designed for managing large amounts of digital media. It provides security, access control, auditing, and advanced Redaction capabilities to meet the needs of any Agency. 

It is commonly referred to as the back office, back-end, web portal, web page, Getac portal, Getac Cloud, EVM, or EVM3.

 

Q: How do I log in?

A1: The URL for your Getac Enterprise instance will be provided by the Getac Implementation team at the time of deployment or demo. If you are unable to locate it, please contact [email protected] for assistance.

A2: Once you have your URL, check out How to Log in.

 

Q: How do I keep my Users logged into their devices permanently?

A1: Check out Assignments and/or Assignments Tab and make sure you have a User (for individuals), Group (if more than one person uses that device), or Role (same as groups) assigned to that device. BWCs can only be assigned to ONE User at a time.

A2: Now, check out the Unit Configuration article that pertains to the type of device you have:

A3: Now, when a User logs in, they won't be logged out of the system or unassigned a device.

 

Q: Do you support 2FA?

Q: How do I add new users?

A: If configured to do so, yes. Access to different video Assets (who sees what) is entirely configurable. Consult a Video Solutions Architect or [email protected] for assistance in setting up your permissions.
