Overview

This article covers the physical installation and wiring of either the TB-02 or TB-03 Bluetooth trigger box.

Note:

The TB-02 and TB-03 share the same form factor and subsequently, physical installation is also the same.

Power Connections

The Trigger Box has the following power inputs:

• Positive (+ or POS)  (labeled VCC and T1 below).
• Negative (-) (labeled GND and T2 below).
• Ignition (IGN) (labeled IGN and T3 below).

Caution:

• It is HIGHLY recommended the battery be tested with a voltmeter prior to installation.
• The lowest recommended voltage threshold for powering the system is 11v. 
• Trigger box will power off upon ignition off, unless wired to a timed power device, e.g. Havis® ChargeGuard™

 

Trigger Connections

The Trigger Box has a 12-pin terminal block for both power, and its GPIO interface. Triggers wired here automatically activate BWCs. This interface can also be used to trigger/sense inputs, such as:

• Light bar (commonly wired into T6 input, shown below).
• Weapons Release (commonly wired into T5 input, shown below).
• Door Sensor.

Note:

• Door sensors are an advanced wiring scenario and requires special considerations. Consult with a Video Solutions Architect for details. 
• Door sensors are NOT provided by Getac.

Warning:

• Inputs that are not labeled in the image above, should NOT be used for triggers, e.g. T1, T2, T3, and T12.
• Most customer deployments have unique configurations for wiring triggers that will be provided by a Video Solutions Architect via a quick wiring reference guide.
• BE COGNIZANT of the orientation of the GPIO connector if removing from the trigger box for installation.
• Consult with a Video Solutions Architect or [email protected] if you need help understanding the above diagrams PRIOR to wiring a system incorrectly. 
• It is possible to damage equipment if wired incorrectly, and warranties DO NOT cover this type of damage.
• Getac IS NOT responsible for damages to customer equipment if wired improperly. Take appropriate action to verify and avoid incurring costs.

 

Mounting the Trigger Box

Typically, the Trigger Box is mounted in storage areas that can be accessed for maintenance and where power and triggers can be easily run to it. Velcro™ or self-drilling screws can be used to attach the Trigger Box to surfaces.

Note:

Once the physical installation is completed, the Trigger Box will need to be configured. See Configuring the Trigger Box and How to set up Group Triggers for how to accomplish this.
