Start Recording

To start recording, press the center button once (single press). 

The following occurs once a recording has started:

• The camera will say, "recording."
• The recording status LED will begin to blink red.
• If enabled, any pre-recorded event will be added to the recording automatically.

Note:

• The LED lights and audible cues will not function while the BWC is in Covert Mode.
• The BWC can be configured to beep at a specified interval while recording.

Mark

To mark the video, press the center button while recording. 

The following occurs once the mark button has been pressed:

• The camera will say, "mark."
• A Bookmark will be placed on the video timeline for review.
• A Snapshotwill be taken at the time of button press.
  Note:

  • This feature allows the operator to quickly take a picture of any important item in their field of view, e.g. vehicle search.
  • This feature can only be used while recording.
  • Performing this action also places a Bookmark on the timeline for quickly jumping to that point in time of the recording during playback.
  • This process can be repeated as many times as needed.
  • Pictures taken are grouped together with and upload together with the recorded video Asset as a Child Asset.

Stop Recording

To stop recording, press and hold the center button for approximately 3 seconds or until the camera says, "stop recording."

The following occurs once a recording has stopped:

• The Recording Status LED will turn off.
• If enabled, Pre-record will begin automatically at the specified interval.

Note:

If enabled, the BWC will say, "stop recording, categorize" instead and the operator will be prompted to select a position on the category wheel to apply a Category for retention. See Categorizing for how to use this feature.

 

Record from Standby

This feature allows the body worn camera to wake up and begin recording. When initiating a recording this way, pre-record will not be available. See 01:18-01:57 of the video below.

 

Caution:

As of BC-03 MR3 PR9, this feature is no longer supported. If this feature is still needed, please contact [email protected] BEFORE updating firmware to MR3 PR9.
