How to Configure DVR to Use VD03 (BC03 Single Dock)

Overview

Use this guide if you are setting up a new unit with a VD03 (BC03 Single Dock) installed, or if your BC03 is not being activated by the in-car system.

VD03s connect to DVRs using ethernet, and some networking settings on the DVR will need to be edited for the VD03 to function. This guide assumes that the DVR and VD03 have already been physically installed, and that the Trigger Box has already been configured. You will need a USB keyboard.

Put DVR in ClientAdmin user

To start, any troubleshooting or work being performed on a DVR requires that the ClientAdmin Windows user be logged in.

1.) Plug a USB keyboard into the right side of the 5" touch display.
2.) Hold Ctrl + Alt, then press Delete
3.) Select "Sign Out"
4.) Repeat step 2
5.) Select the user, "ClientAdmin" from the lower left corner of the screen.
6.) Enter password "fv183b"

This will take you into a regular Windows desktop. The Getac (IRSA) software will launch on its own. Wait for it to finish loading to its main menu before proceeding.

Determine which network adapter has the VD03 connected

Hold the Windows key and press R. Type ncpa.cpl and press Enter. This will open a window of your network adapters. The VD03 is likely using one of the adapters indicated by a red box below. To find out which, dock your bodycam in the dock. Whichever adapter switches from "Network cable unplugged" to "Unidentified network" is the adapter being used by the VD03. This is the adapter we will need to edit. If neither adapter switches, but the camera shows up and turns green in the Wearables screen in the Getac software, it is connected to POE and you are done with this process.

Edit the adapter settings

Right click on the proper adapter and select Properties. Highlight Internet Protocol Version 4 and select Properties again. Enter the details below and then OK your way out of all the properties windows.

Verify functionality

Check the Getac Wearables screen for the camera. If it populates on that screen but isn't green, you may have to press Refresh Media or let it offload if there are recordings on it (Import, Import All, etc). Once it turns green, undock the BC03 (give it 1-3 minutes to "wake up" or wait to hear it say "Ready" if on firmware .104) and start a test recording to ensure that it activates with the in-car system.
