If the “apps installation approval” setting has been applied to an Android device through Configurations, the device will send a request to the Getac Essentials web console for approval when there is an attempt to install an app to the device. The administrator will then receive a notification email daily.

A red dot beside the menu title means the request list has item(s) waiting to be approved.

NOTE: This is a protection mechanism against personal installations, not against installations dispatched by Getac Essentials.

Enter the App Package Name exactly as it is. “App Package Name” is the unique identifier of an Android application. This app package name uniquely identifies the app within the Google Play Store. Due to this reason, no two apps can have the same package name. Below are examples of the App Package Names.

  • For YouTube (for Android), the name is “com.google.android.youtube”.

  • For Facebook, the name is “com.facebook.katana”.

  • For WhatsApp, the name is “com.whatsapp”.

  1. Select the target devices through the drop-down lists of the criteria categories.

  1. If you want to add or exclude device(s), slide the Modify Selection switch to the “on” position. Click Select after the desired item.

Select (check) the target device(s) and click Confirm

  1. When finished with the settings, click Apply. The app will be added to the list.

To manage the allow list

Below are the actions you can perform to an item in this list.

  • Set the Status switch on or off. When set to on, the app installation will be automatically approved immediately. When set to off, the app will not be automatically approved during a request.

  • Click to change the scope of the target devices.

  • Click to delete the item.
