Q: How do I determine if I have a GPT-based disk versus MBR-based disk?

 

A: Please follow these steps:

1. Open a Command Window -- Run as Administrator
2. Type Diskpart and press enter
3. Type List Disk and press enter
4. Disk 0 will be your disk that contains your OS
5. Look on the right for GPT to see if it has an Asterisk or not.
   a. If it has one your OS disk is GPT like the example below
   b. If it doesn’t then it is a MBR disk
