Accessing the Secure Boot Menu in BIOS

Purpose

This document provides instructions for enabling access to the Secure Boot configuration menu within the BIOS on supported Getac laptop systems.

In some cases, the Secure Boot option may not appear under the BIOS Security tab until specific BIOS settings are configured.

Issue Summary

Question

How do I access the Secure Boot section within BIOS? Under Security it is not present.

Answer

The Secure Boot menu may remain hidden until:

  • The operating system mode is set to Windows 10
  • A BIOS Supervisor Password is configured

After completing these steps, the Secure Boot settings will become available within the BIOS Security tab.

Prerequisites

Before proceeding:

  • Ensure the system is powered off
  • Connect AC power if available
  • Use a connected keyboard if required

Procedure

Step 1 — Power On the Device

Turn the unit on.

Step 2 — Enter BIOS Setup

When the Getac splash screen appears:

  1. Press:

F2

This opens the BIOS Setup Utility.

Step 3 — Navigate to the Main Tab

Use the keyboard arrow keys to navigate.

  1. Press the:

Right Arrow

key until the Main tab is selected.

Step 4 — Verify OS Select Setting

Locate:

OS Select

Ensure it is set to:

Windows 10

Important

Secure Boot options may not appear if the operating system mode is configured for:

  • Legacy OS
  • Linux
  • Other compatibility modes

Step 5 — Navigate to the Security Tab

Use the:

Right Arrow

key to move to the:

Security

tab.

Step 6 — Set a Supervisor Password

Within the Security tab:

  1. Locate:

Set Supervisor Password

  1. Enter a supervisor password
  2. Confirm the password when prompted

Important

The Secure Boot configuration menu remains hidden until a Supervisor Password is configured.

Step 7 — Access Secure Boot Settings

After setting the Supervisor Password:

  • The:

Secure Boot

option should now appear within the BIOS Security menu.

You may now:

  • Enable or disable Secure Boot
  • Modify Secure Boot settings
  • Manage Secure Boot keys (if supported)

Saving Changes

After making BIOS changes:

  1. Press:

F10

  1. Select:

Save and Exit

The system will reboot with the updated BIOS settings.

Troubleshooting

Secure Boot Still Missing

If Secure Boot still does not appear:

  • Verify OS Select is set to Windows 10
  • Confirm the Supervisor Password was successfully created
  • Save BIOS settings and reboot back into BIOS
  • Update BIOS firmware if necessary

Cannot Set Supervisor Password

Possible causes include:

  • BIOS keyboard input issues
  • Existing BIOS password conflicts
  • BIOS corruption

If problems persist, contact technical support.

Additional Notes

  • Some BIOS options may vary depending on hardware model and BIOS version.
  • Changing Secure Boot settings may affect operating system boot behavior.
  • Disabling Secure Boot may reduce platform security protections.
