Q: I have purchased units that have TPM 2.0 but our environment uses Windows 7 Enterprise that is legacy. How do we downgrade the firmware to version 1.2 so we can use bitlocker?

A: Please follow the following steps to downgrade your firmware:

  1. Check your current TPM 2.0 Firmware version
    1. Open Command Prompt as Administrator
    2. Type the following command
    3. wmic /namespace:\\root\cimv2\security\microsofttpm path win32_tpm get ManufacturerVersion
    4. It will give you either 5.51 or 5.62
  2. If your firmware is version 5.51 please use this utility to downgrade to TPM 1.2
