Q: When we scan a barcode the data doesn't populate into our software. What is needed for this?

A: Normally software like this has you choose a COM port and Baud rate you need the scanner in. If your software needs it in COM mode follow the below steps.
If you need it to be in Keyboard Mode please check FAQ for that mode.

  1. Check to make sure if you have the honeywell or zebra driver installed
    • If you do not then please download it from our driver page at
      https://support.getac.com/Portal/Page/763
    • Unzip Driver and install
  2. If you already had the driver installed check to see if it says Honeywell or Zebra and follow below instructions for each

Honeywell Barcode

  1. Click the Up Arrow in the system tray in the bottom right
  2. Double Click Barcode Manager Icon
  3. Click Advanced at the top
  4. Hover over / Click Mode Switch
  5. Click on COM Mode
  6. Barcode will now change to COM Port Mode
  7. The scanner's baud rate by default is 9600.
  8. Find the scanner in device manager and see what COM Port it was assigned.
  9. Change your software to match the COM Port and Baud rate
  10. Now when you scan it should pull data into your software

Zebra Barcode

  1. Uninstall Barcode Manager as it is not needed for COM mode with Zebra Barcode
  2. Download the following document for interface types Zebra COM Port Mode - SSI over USB CDC
  3. Scan the SSI over USB CDC Barcode
  4. This will put it into COM port Mode
  5. Open Device Manager and open ports to check what Port Number the barcode has
  6. Point your software to that COM port at 9600 baud rate
  7. Now your software should be able to bring data into it after a scan
