Categorizing Assets

Overview

Categorizing allows for better indexing of large amounts of Assets, making it faster and easier for a User to find and review them. While not required, it is highly recommended that Users utilize this feature to improve any analytics data in addition to faster search times. Categories can be added at multiple points in an Asset's lifecycle, e.g., immediately after ending a recording from an MVS or BWC system or after the Asset has been uploaded to Getac Evidence.

Once a Category is applied, the following actions occur:

  • A Retention period is applied to the Asset.
  • An Upload Policy is applied to the Asset.
  • If in use, a Custom Form will appear asking for additional Metadata.
Note: Multiple Categories can be applied to a single Asset or Asset Group. Whichever has the higher Retention period will apply.
