Overview

New DVRs must be registered to your Getac Enterprise server before being used. To do so, you will need the following items:

  • USB keyboard and mouse (or touchpad). The Logitech© K400 is a great all-in-one option.

  • Active internet connection
  • Your Getac Enterprise license key

Note:

Contact support at [email protected] If you do not have your license key.

  • Your Getac Enterprise URL

Note:

Your Getac Enterprise URL is the web address used to access your site, e.g., https://demo.getaccloud.com. If you don't know yours, contact [email protected].

  • Your Station passcode
    • The station passcode can be found by:
      • Clicking on Stations in the navigation bar.
      • Check the box next to your Station.
      • Then, click the wrench icon.
    • The Station settings page will load.

    • Scroll down to Other Settings.

    • The station passcode will be listed as seen in the image below.

    • Copy the information down, as it is needed to register the unit to your station.

Caution:

The Pass Code in the image below is an example and should not be used to register your devices.

Warning:

Do not modify any settings in this menu without consulting the support team first.

Instructions

Note:

The following process assumes the DVR has been physically installed into the vehicle.

Sign Out

Note:

  • When you receive a new DVR and power it on for the first time, it may automatically log into the IRSA Windows user account and display a black screen.
  • This account only allows the DVR application to be displayed and prevents full access to the Windows environment. The screen is black since the DVR application has not been installed yet.
  • We will log back into this account later in this process.

Perform the following steps:

  • Turn on the vehicle's ignition.
  • Connect the keyboard to the DVR via the USB port on the right side of the 5" display.

  • Press Ctrl+Alt+Delete; this will bring up a blue screen. Tap or click on Sign Out.

  • Tap or click on the ClientAdmin account profile and enter the password.

Note:

  • If you do not have the default password, contact Getac support.
  • If the default password has been changed, contact your administrator.

Connect to Internet

  • Connect the DVR to the internet via WiFi or Ethernet.

Install IRSASetup

  • There should be an installer file named IRSASetup3_xxx.msi on the desktop. Double-click on it to begin installation of the DVR software. The version included on the desktop may be outdated, so it’s important to check that the In-Car software is up to date from the Enterprise portal after registration is complete.

  • This will launch the IRSA In-Car application installer. Go through the installation process as normal. After clicking the install button, you will have the option to "Select drive to store filestream data." Always select the C:\ drive. Then click "Next" to begin installing the software.

  • The program installation will automatically elevate, bringing up a User Account Control prompt. Click "Yes" to allow the app to make changes, and it will continue installing.

  • When the installation finishes, click "Finish" to finalize it. The software will now be ready to launch.

  • Open the start menu or click the magnifying glass in the bottom left corner, search for "DVR," and click on it or hit enter to open the software.

Register the Device

When you first run the software, you should see the IRSA Registration screen. Enter your license key in the field and choose "Save and Continue."

Next, you'll have the option to register the DVR as a new or existing unit. First, enter the URL from your Enterprise portal and your station passcode, then select "Connect." It will verify the server connection. If successful, the "New Unit Registration" and "Existing Unit Registration" buttons will no longer be grayed out. A message will appear in the top right corner if an error occurs.

New Unit Registration

Enter the preferred Unit ID, select your station from the dropdown box, and click "Register."

Existing Unit Registration

Copy the key from the Unit Details page of the existing unit it's replacing. Hit the "Check" button and verify the correct Unit ID, then hit "Register."

The End User License Agreement (EULA) will appear. Read through the terms and agree to begin using the software.

Apply Assignments

Users need to be assigned to the unit to log in. Most agencies assign all their user groups to ensure any personnel can log in. Go to your Units list, click the unit, and then click the Assignments tab.

Finishing Up

When done configuring a new unit or troubleshooting in ClientAdmin user mode, sign the device out of Windows and sign in as the IRSA user. When the DVR shuts down with the IRSA user logged in, it will automatically log in when powered on. This launches the software unassisted and starts the ignition shutdown timer. If powered off in ClientAdmin mode, it may get stuck on the Windows sign-in screen and drain the car battery.
